OK, so the 400 is now 10 years old. I'd like to bring up one issue where it has NOT improved. Remember those white box 400's with the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award banners. Ever wonder why the black boxes haven't won the quality award. Could it the those damn back covers. We have 8 400s of all sizes and trying to hang the rounded rear covers back on is next to impossible. Our 620 has an even better idea. Inside the cover are two smaller covers that go over the cable ports. The covers have to be removed to see which port a cable is attached to. The covers have a kill switch on them. The only time I can remover the cover is when I'm powered down. So label you cables about a foot down from the plug end guys. Last the 620 ports are marked by an etching in the metal (ie:E09). This can be quite hard to see even with those covers off. Not like the good old days when the card slots were clearly labeled. So, after 10 years I'd guess I have to say the AS/400 is 99% new and improved. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
