When I tried to use SNDPTFORD for cums on the one 400 for the rest of my 400's I envariably got a call from IBM confirming my order. Guess they were trying to make sure that I wasn't hoarding tapes or CD's. This left me really vexed. Now I order all of my cum media through the following: >http://service.software.ibm.com/as400.us.reg/orderptfmedia?lang=english|1 >Fantastic service and tracking. No longer do I have to call and explain my problem via voice to a couple of entry level phone operators prior to getting someone who knows their stuff. I can type up the problem, cut and paste error messages and submit the problem. I can see most of IBM's responses to the problem. Set the severity. When IBM updates the problem I get an email telling me to check it. I can switch it over to voice just like any other problem if I want to. This web site is: >http://service.software.ibm.com/as400.us.reg/ccms?lang=english I agree completely with Rob. This method of ordering PTFs and reporting/updating problems is, IMO, one of the best things IBM has done recently. Response is very timely, and I don't end up waiting on hold. Love it! It's solved a problem we have with ordering PTFs. Because we use 3rd party support for the hardware, we cannot order machine (MFnnnnn) PTFs over the ECS line. But we can do this with a browser. The order bypasses everything and goes stright to Boulder—fantastic! It takes a little longer, but no limitations on the number of PTFs (20 with ECS), and all pre/co-reqs are included. The latter is not the case when we order v3r2 PTFs from a V4r1 machine, e.g. One thing Rob didn't mention is that you can get to the carrier's tracking system, too. Three cheers to IBM! Huzzah!
