Gary, IBM actually makes it easy for you to modify QSTRUP. It's pretty normal to do so. The job name is not QSTRUP. Sorry, I don't remember what it actually is. Regardless though, you could execute CHGJOB LOGCLPGM(*YES) at the top of the program and DSPJOBLOG OUTPUT(*PRINT) at the end. Don't forget the MONMSG CPF0000 after each command. Did the change in behavior coincide with an OS upgrade or PTF apply? We needed to change the sequence of some of the commands in ours when we upgraded from V3R1 to V4R2. We identified the problem by retrieving the source for QSYS/QSTRUP and comparing it with our program.
