Yes, you can do that. If you are using a program described printer file, you
need to send the command to shift into transparency mode. I believe it's X'30'.
Perhaps someone else can confirm this. If you are using an externally described
printer file, use the TRNSPY and CVTDTA keywords in the DDS. There are a couple
of projects documented on my website (barcoding and form overlays) that explain
how this works.
