I can confirm that the Hayes Optima 33.6 internal voice business modem
(Hayes part 8-02355) ** DOES ** do autosync. I have also tested PCMCIA and
external 28.8 Hayes Optima modems. Interesting comment from Steven Sharpe
that the 56kb Optima does not because autosync is one of the distinguishing
elements between the Optima line and the Accura line.

Steve,

Is it bugs or just not supported?

I have had success with PCMCIA, internal, and external versions. Always be
sure you have the latest flash update from Hayes (avail on their BBS or
www). I have used this successfully with Synapse WinAPPC (I sell, support,
use, and recommend Synapse as a CA/400 replacement) on Windows, WFW, and
W95. It works in both 16bit mode and 32bit mode. Be sure to set max frame
size to 265 and not 521.
