I almost always use the good ol' "BASIC SEQUENTIAL" format which actually
produces a CSV file. Comma Separated Values is almost universally supported in
MS windoz as an import file type. I rarely if ever need to try anything else.

I've had success saving it in Excel as a .DIF file and uploading the .DIF

transform a tab delimited file (which excel can produce) to a positional
record that can be FTP'd to the AS/400. If you'd like a copy, it's free and
on my web site. The program name is FLATULATE. (Sort of gives you a flavor
for how much I appreciated this CA functionality.)
