Dave, >>I have an eye on automating my night operations shift. Can >>anyone recommend any good research resources for this subject or >>maybe just some general advice. I am assuming I need a good >>message monitor/page system, either a tape library robot or maybe a >>3590, and a decent job scheduler. Am I leaving out any biggies? Any topic regarding operations automation should start with Help Systems Robot scheduler (IMHO). They also have paging software, message monitoring, backup monitoring, etc, etc, etc. I will NEVER run an AS/400 without Robot. As for tape drives, I have 3570's. Little slower than 3590's but alsomuch less money. Uncompressed, the 3570 handles 100gb and more with compression. HTH, John Cirocco Computer Task Group, Inc.
