S/34 folks conplained, so it was added for compatability. If you need more LDA like space, create a convention to create data areas in QTEMP. If you insist that they be created before any software comes to use them, there are several ways that they can pre-created before actual works starts, the most obvious of which is an initial program. In my opinion, IBM has better things to do than make *LDA larger.
