>> " ..... simply purchase newer, year-2000 compliant applications " << I've met a lot of people who would have liked to do that, but found that the vendor's latest version was either Object code only (which they couldn't accept) and/or was incompatible with the extensions they've developed. Not to mention the fact that "shopping" for packages is often a lengthy process. >> "If companies felt it wasn't important enough to do by now, then they either have a very easy job ahead of them, or they aren't going to be affected by the issue anyway." << Or they are completely unaware of just how much work is involved - it constantly amazes me, the state of denial most people are in. Two of the top five telecom companies in the US have only just completed their Inventory stage (which showed that they have 50 million lines of custom code to deal with!) While on a road trip in the UK we came across a company where the manager was convinced - without even looking at his systems - that he and his two programmers could fix everything over the Jan 1 long weekend! (no snide comments about Brits!) >> "As for ByPass 2000 and it's method of identifying the type of date format codes to assign to database date fields... well in a word or two, it SUCKS!" << Not sure what's so "sucky" about it, but the second release made a lot of improvements in the user interface area. Glad you think the rest of it does a good job though.
