The search tools look for dates in data base files. The fix-it-tools (BYPASS/2000) use the results from the search tools to trace the dates through the source code. The search tools actually read data, and have parameters to determine % of good dates, % of bad dates (02/31/97), special values (99/99/99) and zeros. There have actually been some weird and perverted people that have put dates into alpha fields and into other inappropriate fields (9.2 packed!). The search tools find this stuff.
