The ISP I use—a private local one—assigns me, at home, a dynamic address. The 400, on the other hand, will have a fixed address—it doesn't allow dynamic assignment at all. So it's got to be defined by NIC to be useful. The 400 doesn't really need to know your address in advance—I know from experience. That'd only be necessary if you want to connect from the 400 to you, not from you to the 400.
