Every glitch is a whole new experience. Take for example: "Using the blank tape that came with your new machine..." We looked nearly an hour for the tape. A call to IBM got the reply "a blank tape is not on the kitting list. That is not a no-charge item." Ok, put it on the "fight with salesman" list, but that's an hour+ down the drain. Another example: the roadmap requires that we use the modem to get the PTF instructions. The PTF instructions will tell us how to use the modem to get the updates so that the electronic devices can be enabled. Well, the electronic device is the modem, and it doesn't work yet. After figuring out that we were really in a catch-22 we said "AH! but we can use the old machine! At least we can get the documentation - maybe that will tell us more." So we got the PTF with V3R1 and tried to read the documentation, then got the message "You must be at V4R1 to read the cover sheet." (btw, we are still waiting for instructions on what to do - we skipped this item on the roadmap.) And last night: "After INZSYS is complete....." Huh? when'd we do INZSYS? This is the first time we've seen the word. Did it happen automatically? Should we do it now? It doesn't say to do it. Mind you, Al, this is not upsetting. This new machine is gorgeous. Like I said before, you can see it's muscles. And the install is still smoother than a lot of computer changes, but the roadmap really does not match real life anymore. ---------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin --------------------------------------------------- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MAJORDOMO@midrange.com | and specify 'unsubscribe MIDRANGE-L' in the body of your message. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
