Don't know any education stuff, but there are 2 things that I think can help him.

(1) Instead of library/object, it's object.library

(2) Many of the commands that start with 'WRK' on the 400 start with 'DSP' on the 38

Oh, yeah, and DSPPFM is BRWPFM on the 38.

Also, there's usually a library on AS/400 called QSYS38, and all the 38 commands are there. They do, however, map to equivalent 400 commands when appropriate.

Maybe get old issues of NEWS/3X and Midrange Computing, or get their CD libraries.

There also may be online education on the 38--STREDU may fire it up.
