There is an RPG programming course as part of a post grad Dip in 
Information Systems run in University Colloge Cork in Ireland. I am
one of a team of people teaching this course on a part-time basis.

You can have a copy of the course material and we could talk through
the programme, which is nearly all hands-on. The approach the 
college took is to get people working in the everyday world of
AS400 programming to run the course using real suites of programs.
This is backed up by a limited number of RPG / AS400 theory 
lectures.

You might be able to persuade some local AS400 people to put
in a few hours a week in your college.
