FYI:

The correct dip switch settings on the side of the modem should be:
(From 1 to 16) Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up, Up, Down,
               Down, Up, Down, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up

If you can autodial and connect to IBM to order PTF's etc via SNDPTFORD
then it can't be a problem with the modem.
