You can use a partial keylist and check the EQ (3rd) indicator on the SETLL. If its *ON, Its there. If its *OFF, Its not. (You only time you would have to do the ordeal you stated is if you want to check "A Part of one field". For instance if you setll with a 20 byte character field and then want to see if the next record matchs Only the first "X" positions of that 20 bytes.) John P.
