For existance testing (no data values required) your technique is the
least costly.
Both will provide you with an indicator to test for existance, but I
don't think the SETLL would perform a record move to buffer since it is
only reading the index.  I believe the buffer move occurs with any
following read operation.

For an online entry program performing a couple of tests it may not make
any difference in response time....but if you needed to do a couple of
dozen tests with each press of the enter key it may reduce screen turn
around time a bit.
