Naw, Synapse were the fasterest. This was in News/400 Product Quarterly
Spring 1996 issue. The actual test was a 5MB file using Netsoft file
transfer. Synapse took 1.7 minutes, BOS in IBM register compatible mode
took 3.3 minutes, and BOS in "stealth" mode took 5.7 minutes.

The "stealth" mode actually slightly slows down the PC (imperceptible to the
eye but noticeable when benchmarking a file transfer). I believe that BOS
recommends use of the IRQ for optimum speed. There are "conditions" related
to "stealth" mode.

With Synapse there are no special situations, fine print, or conditions. It
only runs in one mode -- fast and no footprint in the PC -- any PC.
