Booth I think you will find that if you use the file information feedback area for DB files in RPG that the CURRENT RELATIVE RECORD NUMBER (position 397-400, zero decimals, binary (9,0 B in DDS)) will show the following; A. Join logicals will be the RRN of the base Physical file, the Primary one. B. Normal, single format, One PF logical file will be the RRN of the base physical. C. and for Physical files it will be the RRN of the record you just read. I know about the fact that if your only using the file for sequential processing (either input or output) that the INFDS is only updated after blocks of records are transfered(RPGIV compile notice *RNF7086 RPG will handle blocking... blah blah blah, yada yada yada) but I just ran one thru debug and the CURRENT RRN feedback field was correct. Even though the other feedback field "Records per Block - 186-187, zero decimals, binary (4,0 B in DDS)" said 40 record per block. go figure. John P. Then something John Carr said last week made me realize my >assumption may be very wrong. Hence the question. >n <3364FB98.18B3@ibm.net>, on 04/28/97 at 12:33 PM, "James W.
