Are you talking about storing the RRN of the logical file as a hidden
field in the subfile record?

It may be that the way you load the subfile, it would be coincidental
that the subfile record number and the logical record number are the
same.  I've had the "finger of shame" wagged at me for doing highly
subtle things like that.
