We only use consultants for special, short term, projects. Like installation of Mimix, figuring out the darn 3576 tape drive, first time we lpar'ed, that sort of rot. And these consultants get a hefty premium, or at least the BP does. Or if no one has the time or gumption to crack open the cover of a magazine with an article like "Calling Java from RPGLE to interchange data with SQL Server via JDBC", but instead we contracted that out. When the economy was lean we had lots of lay offs. We recently called one IT person back. Out of 300+ salary people (all divisions) we have an average length of service of 13 years. Rob Berendt
