I wonder if it is best for Tiger to make public their method for doing this.

Peer review would then prove or disprove that the method is legitimate.

If legitimate than the buying public would have more confidence in the
product and would be much more likely to buy it.  If not legitimate, than I
am sure IBM will get the word out anyway.

Even if the method used is publicly known, the buyer would still be likely
to buy from Tiger than use shareware for reasons of support, confidence in
the vendor and general prohibitions against using shareware.

As far as IBM shutting it down with future OS or PTF chgs, hopefully, the
cat is out of the bag. Changing the OS to disallow the method will prevent
customers who use the method from upgrading, resulting in less revenue for
IBM.
