That sounds like way to much work. Enter the data in columns. Then is you
have numbers that have to be read as alpha change that in excel using the
TEXT(XX99,0) command and copy the result over the original column as values.
That way you can convert an entire column from numbers to text. Text typed
in will always come out as text so that shouldn't be the issue. Then you
can either save as a CSV or upload using data transfer from within Excel.

The important thing is match your data to the type the FDF thinks it is.

Yes. What it appears to be is either numeric in alpha or alpha in numeric..

Would it make it easier to make everything alpha. then once I get it to
the 400. have a program to convert flds I want to be numeric?

Morning everyone.

I am trying to take an excel spreadsheet that I initially created from the
400 with data. Some data was keyed inot columns that I provided. When I try
to transfer the spreadsheets back to the 400 I am getting errors that data
in this field is incorrect or does not match the PC data type. I think what
has happened is the users keyed into a flds that they were not meant to. I
have tried using the data transfer off the client access session. I have
also tried using the data transfer option on the speadsheet itself. Neither
works.
Hope this makes sense.....

Is there a way to prevent this???

Thanks in advance...
