Shawn, You mentioned shop floor systems. What system are you using to collect data? Unless it is just plain MAPICS green screen applications or MAPICS Browser, most data collection systems should allow you to take the AS/400 "offline" and still continue collecting shop data. Let me know and I might be able to provide addition info. Most of the responses you've received so far are right on the mark. Most backup t disk's are taking under an hour, with a few around the 2 hour mark.
