It will save you considerable "down" or "dedicated mode" time. When you consider that there is another step, and that is taking the disk save to tape.... it takes the same amount of the operator's time. At our shop, we're very pleased with BRMS (IBM's licensed product 5722-BR1). This product, combined with a few CL programs that end some subsystems, hold up the unattached jobs, perform a save-while-active, save changed objects, bring every back to life again, keeps our downtime to an absolute minimum. Is there a way to do a backup to an external storage (NAS or Windows file share) using some option or redirection of the normal backup. thanks Shawn Thobe Supervisor - Information Systems Fort Recovery Industries Inc. 419-375-4121
