The performance of the browser depends mainly on your AS400.

Memory and processor power is the key.

We connect to an AS400 over the LAN but also over a WAN (VPN connection
using DSL).

Although we see a difference in performance using LAN or WAN it isn't in the
same rate as your LAN speed against WAN speed.

The Browser uses ODBC were it send the SQL statements to the AS400 were they
are processed (Locally).

It's output is then send to you're pc.

For simple views or queries the difference between LAN or WAN with the
Mapics browser is not that big.

Unless you have a pretty big pipe, the performance is pretty bad. We have
implemented CITRIX for these customers. This has the advantage of working
over a WAN as well as reducing the costs of adminsitering Browser and other
applications.
