Dale,

Someone may want to pipe up but when we did Essentials I had to ask MAPICS what
the financials meant and strangely enough they told me. Now if I can only
remember and try to amaze Jeff some more...

I think what we know as ALF is a combination of maintenance fee and annual
license fee and I would imagine most of it is included under services. Remember
they report all three products now and do not split the $$$ so the most tell
tale figure is new license fees as to what growth actually is. It would be a
little better for us if they split the two items since one is state taxable in
Georgia and the other is not. Right now because one is taxable we pay taxes on
all of it.

I would also assume that most of the added revenue is from folding in the
Syteline products since I do not believe it was part of the financials in this
quarter last year.

Regards

Konrad

        Subject: Question on MAPICS services

I'm probably going to feel dumb on this one, but surely someone knows
the
        answer to this.....

Did anone see MAPICS' posting of their financial results? They were
profitable again (which is good by my reckoning). But the article says:

            . Year-to-year comparisons of MAPICS's fourth-quarter revenues look
promising:
License revenue increased 31 percent, to $12.1 million; services
revenue increased
55 percent, to $33 million; total revenue increased nearly 48
percent, to $45.1
            million.

This is an excerpt from a Midrange Systems article,
        http://www.midrangeserver.com/tfh/tfh111003-story06.html

I figure "License revenue" must be new sales and ALFs, but what are
"services" as in "services revenue"? What services does MAPICS do?
I've
been using MAPICS since 1986, and have no idea what this means - but it
appears to be 73% of their revenue. I just buy modules, and pay my
ALFs.
That doesn't qualify as services in my book.....
