Folks, I estimate that our techy / user mix is currently 70/30. I pick-up a lot of interesting tidbits from the techy discussions. You techyies could help create a better balance by telling your user colleagues about this discussion group and encouraging them to participate. They really do know how to send and receive e-mails. I have also heard that many of them know how to press the delete button when messages get too technical. According to the guidelines "Any discussion related to MAPICS in particular or ERP systems in general is acceptable." Therefore mentioning non-MAPICS "annointed" products and services seems to be in bounds. There is a gray area between mentioning and promoting. When I discusssed this with Dave Shaw, the answer came back that I could mention my books as long as I did it in response to a previous posting. The way I interpret this is that it is OK to answer a general ledger interfaces question and then mention my "MAPICS XA General Ledger Interfaces Book" as a way to learn MORE about that topic. It would not be OK to say that you can get the answer by buying my book or that I provide consulting services in this area.
