There are two OS400 system values that may help you. qinactitv and qdscjobitv (use OS400 command wrksysval) Be sure to read the documentation and if you don't fully understand call Mapics support for cross apps (CAS) and IBM support for OS help >From what I briefly researched of Sytline it appears to be a WinTel app. If that is the case you are switching to a very flexible, friendly, extremely stable environment. That is not to say it's perfect. But it is real good. Like almost everyone we support a windows domain as well as the iSeries. I have not always been a proponent of iSeries w/Mapics. In fact I was a manufacturing SE for Honeywell Information Systems. (mainframe, midrange, mini, UNIX) Obviously I was a competitor. We lost. The office was closed and I found employment at Kimray. The reason is that IBM built an extremely stable, very well supported OS and thousands of really good business applications are available. You will find no better documented and supported package, period. It is full featured and stable with on going development and a very large installed base. It will take time for you to learn it but with time and smart work you will spend less time fixing OS and application software problems in the middle of the night and more time solving business issues during normal hours. At least you get something for all the money. We are starting out with 20 floating licenses and are wondering what methods other companies use to free up licenses after, say, ten minutes. Our current ERP system (Syteline 4) does not have this and we have to manually kick people out. Of course, we still want the users jobs to continue - we're just trying to prevent someone from logging in and then leaving their workstation for an extended amount of time and tying up a license someone else needs. > > Thank you, > > Ron Lahr A+, MCSE > Director of Information > Systems & Technology > www.altek-inc.com > INNOVATIVE MANUFACTURING SOLUTIONS > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Don [mailto:dr2@xxxxxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2003 4:03 PM > To: MAPICS ERP System Discussion > Subject: RE: CFINT01 (the interactive governor) > > > > > Check with Annie DeBoer of Diamond Data 800.373.7531 > > > > On Thu, 1 May 2003, McCready, Joan wrote: > > > Thanks to all for your advice.
