Ron, MAPICS licensing doesn't work that way. If some one is logged in and you clear their license, no one else can log in to MAPICS (even if you have licenses available) until that person logs out of MAPICS. At least, that is how the "named" licesnses work - I can't imagine the "floating" licenses working any differently. Otherwise, it sounds like you could have 30 people using 20 licenses at the same time! -- Joan Joan McCready, IS Manager phone: 636-479-4499 MetalTek International fax: 636-479-3399 The Carondelet Division www.metaltekint.com 8600 Commercial Blvd Pevely, MO 63070 -----Original Message----- From: Ron Lahr [mailto:rlahr@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2003 6:27 PM To: MAPICS ERP System Discussion Subject: auto-release of licensing We are switching to MAPICS and implementing XA release 6. We are starting out with 20 floating licenses and are wondering what methods other companies use to free up licenses after, say, ten minutes. Our current ERP system (Syteline 4) does not have this and we have to manually kick people out. Of course, we still want the users jobs to continue - we're just trying to prevent someone from logging in and then leaving their workstation for an extended amount of time and tying up a license someone else needs.
