We do close IM each month and I also copy the file prior to month end for backups. The real reason we want to do this is to phase out an item and not allow any transactions. From what I've seen even if you suspend the item balance you can still do TW, IA, and other transactions. We don't want this to happen. If you delete the item balance, the history does not erase. Therefore, you could run a history report for whatever period or whatever transaction type later on. Once you decide what the usage is by the report, re add the item balance and type in the year-to-date number you want to start from. Are you doing end of the month Inventory management closes??
