Dale, We definitely agree more than we disagree. Even our companies are similar, since we are one of the original MAPICS users and about the same size dollar wise. We even face the same issues. We have both customized MAPICS to do what we have to do to support the business. And even as much as I whine about COM and the client applications they are in their own way miracles. Synon was never expected to support anything the size of COM, only to generate nice error free subfile oriented master/detail programs. As Bonnie noted if only they had waited to generate shared libraries and use ILE the world would be far less complicated but Synon was faltering even as COM shipped so futher work got stunted. The client applications have to contend with the back end funcky legacy database design and the fact that Smalltalk became a legacy language. It is pretty easy to figure out the sales picture. Just examine the posted financials. Given the cost of implementation (cost for core applications) I would think they have 2 - 5 new customers per quarter. There is nothing wrong with supporting existing customers tho. Regards Konrad
