OK - I guess I'll throw in my 2 cents. We've been on XA/R6 for a couple
years, and I have found it to be quite stable, especially the financials.
It covers everything we need, I have no problems with support (the e:Info
site is fantastic - I get probably over 90% of my questions answered from
the "No Wait Response"), and I can literally say MAPICS controls every area
of our business except for marketing and maintenance. Planning,
Scheduling, Production, Inventory, Accounting, Order Processing, Shipping -
we use it for all of that. ALF's are not cheap, but I think we get our
money's worth in support, new features, and development.

I am anxiously waiting for R7 to be "complete", with Integrator and full
CSM (we use both), as MAPICS Browser in a thin client mode is a key part of
my future direction on the plant floor. This includes Paperless......
although I have a potential alternate direction to thin-PowerBuilder with
IBM's WebFacing tools in V5R2 (we don't use many of the MDCC screens, but
we use what we do use a lot!).

Paula, my plans for R7 will NOT be a "killer iSeries", I'm planning on
Linux servers to drive the R7 clients. That ought to be tons cheaper....
