You can only add triggers to physical files.

If you are going to use a trigger over IMHIST, make sure to use user
defined opens of any files that you are using in your trigger program.
That way the files  would only open if you're condition is met.  If the
trigger program must open files every time it is called, you may have a
performance problem being that IMHIST is a huge and widely used file.

Could create a logical with record selection and put the trigger on the
logical. Then would only fire when those certain records populated the
file.. Part of the selection could be record type and a blank user fld..
then trigger would update the user fld and once updated would not be in
logical..
