Paul, File MBAWRES6 contains the unique comment header number that you are looking for. If you do a *HIVAL SETLL to this file you will get the last comment header number. Increment that number by 1 and that will be the next available comment header number. To secure the comment header number, I recommend you write your record to this file first, then subsequent files. There is another important file, MBEECPP which contains a cross reference from the COM line item to the comment header number. This is what is used to link the comment to the comment header (MBAWREP) and comment line file (MBAXREP). Hope this helps. Most of the time this is handled via maintaining orders. I have been asked if we can do this from an off-line procedure. I have determined that the comments are recorded in the file MBAXREP - Comment Line Physical File. In this file there is a Comment Header Number (AXKANB). Can someone tell me what system file the COM order enter/order amend programs use to determine the next Comment Header Number to assign? If I try to add these comments from outside of MAPICS, I would like to increment this number so that the number won't be re-assigned by MAPICS. We are still using ver3 of XA. Any help would be appreciated.
