Barb, I was going to tell you that the online logic information was pretty good until I went to check it out with regard to P/R. We must need a PTF because the P/R programs that I looked at all show logic info for shipping procedures. I'll let you know if I find anything out about this. Too bad the logic manuals are history, that's the kind of book I'm looking for. -----Original Message----- From: Ted Hendricks [mailto:hendrickst@dninevada.com] Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 12:26 PM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: Payroll Training Resources I hear what you are saying and our company is similiar regarding training/ consulting. We used the MAPICS manual many years ago. I haven't looked at the latest manual, but I found that if you know payroll and the modules requirements, the manual is pretty good. The only real snag or difficultly we had was automatic OT calculations which really was a management issue and not a module confusion. Of course, it really helped me a lot that I had a good payroll person. -----Original Message----- From: mapics-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:mapics-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Barb Nash Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 9:16 AM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: Payroll Training Resources Thanks Ed, It probably will come to that, and that IT person would be me. Management was looking for some sort of (cheap :)) self educating book or online class in order to save a buck, which in the long run usually ends up costing more than your suggestion! Unfortunately, formal training is a rarity here.... -----Original Message----- From: Ed Chabot [mailto:echabot@marlinfirearms.com] Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 12:03 PM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: Payroll Training Resources Barb, We were lucky enough to have a consultant in house that was very well-versed in MAPICS P/R and was also a good trainer when we went to MAPICS P/R. I'm sure that there are other people affiliated with MAPICS in your area, perhaps they can do some of the training. Someone in house will probably need to become familiar with the app from an I.S. perspective. Could that person train your users? What is the best way to learn all the features, setup, year end... on a limited budget. I have checked out the User Guide, but it does not provide much detail.
