For our company, creation of a new item in MAPICS involves several
departments.  The item master is created by one department, the item balance
another and the routing yet another, and so on.  We did not purchase the
Workflow module and do not intend to in the near future.   We need some
means of notification upon the completion of MAPICS tasks.  Anyone have any
ideas besides installing Workflow?  We are currently operating at Release 4.
