There used to be a MAPICS user group in Charlotte. GNP was in Greenville,
SC, so we drove nearly 100 miles for the meetings. The group was heavily
supported by the MAPICS affiliate headquartered in Charlotte and one of the
larger MAPICS companies there, which is in fact the company I've been
consulting at this summer. The affiliate was sold off several years ago,
and there weren't enough volunteers among the membership to prevent burnout
of the board members, so the group quietly folded 4 years ago, about the
same time that our local AS/400 group collapsed (for similar reasons) in
Greenville. There have been a few attempts to re-start something here, but
none have been successful.
