I'm in a similar situation to GCrane at Johanson Mfg., I can't justify to
Sr. Mgmt attending both COMMON and the MAPICS conference. Naturally,
given a choice, I choose the MAPICS conference since it is what we use to
run the business, and it is critical to know where they are going. It's
been the right choice for the last several years, that's for certain.

I think MAPICS should be active at COMMON, however - if only from the
marketing side. Too many people think MAPICS is a "little company's
package" - not true! Being active at COMMON might help dispel that
perception.

Great group! But we never did answer Phil's question....

Do you go to COMMON?
Do you want MAPICS sessions at COMMON?
Does you company send you to both COMMON and MAPICS Conference or do you
have to
choose?

I am really curious about your answers. Is my company the only one on a
budget?
I am forced to choose. I have pressing issues with Web, networking,
Notes,
etc.- more than just MAPICS. MAPICS for us, besides upgrades, just runs
in the
background and keeps on ticking. But, I really need to see what is
happening in
MAPICS for strategic direction and many times MAPICS taught me new ways of
doing
things. So it is always a tough decision. My company can not afford
both.

What do you do?

I couldn't agree more.
Another benefit (besides reminiscing) is it shows what resources we have
available in this group.

Off topic? This has been the most fascinating exchange I've seen on the

P.S. We may be getting slightly off topic, but I don't mind if y'all
don't.
It's nice to see a little traffic on the list.
