Skip,
One of the benefits of attending the MAPICS User's Conference is to see not only new MAPICS products and developments, but also to see 3rd party utilities developed by affiliates and other solution partners. I would highly encourage you to send at least one individual to the conference, there are many new products announced, of which your affiliate may not even be aware. These large events should not be viewed as a substitute for your local user events. There is far too much to see at the MAPICS User Conference to be afforded an opportunity to view things at the level of detail that is likely to be appropriate - that is why you have a local event.  The User Conference is also a great opportunity to provide key individuals at MAPICS with direct feedback about their product and direction. Your affiliate should also be able to provide you with collaterals from last years event if you ask (most of it is archived on MicPlus).

Skip,
We attended the Chicago conference this year, and the general consensus of our group was that it was very informative on the new products, applications, releases etc... but was lacking in basic MAPICS training, using MAPICS more effectively/productively...  We also attended our affiliates (Harker, Inc., which I believe is the same as yours) user conference and it was just as good, if not better than Chicago.  They presented the same material as in Chicago, to a much smaller group of people which allowed for more detail.  They also had interactive demonstrations of new and existing products, they were available for questions, discussions, and being our affiliate, were familiar with our company's situation.  As far as costs, there is no comparing the two!  Next year hands downs, we are skipping the MAPICS user conference and attending our affiliates.
If you have any questions about either feel free to give me a call!
