Patrick, Are you using MAPICS Purchasing? The purchase unit of measure support does this kind of thing. In your Item Master A record for this item, set the unit of measure to yards (I would use "YD"), then in the C record set the purchase unit of measure to pounds ("LB") and enter the conversion factor. When it's received you may have to specify the unit of measure you're using for the receipt ("YD"), but it should handle the conversion automagically for you. Dave Shaw MAPICS-L Moderator Spartan International, Inc. Spartanburg, SC -----Original Message----- From: Shrader, Patrick [mailto:pshrader@wkep.com] I have a different type of problem, and am looking for suggestions from the peanut gallery. Facts: I purchase ribbon in pounds, but receive and use it in yards. 1 pound is 5,000 yards. I need for the purchasing module to print in pounds, but I want to receive it in yards. How should I set this item up so that it is purchased in the correct quantities, yet is also received in the correct quantities and UOMs? I don't think a standard uom conversion will work, since other items way more or less than 5,000 per lb. I'd appreciate any hints or tips you can give me.
