So I did the equivalent of the following (as root):
echo /usr/lib/tn5250 > /etc/ld.so.conf.d/x5250.conf && ldconfig

Prior to that, tn5250 and xt5250 worked fine.  Now x5250 works too.

I've updated http://www.dbg400.net/foswiki/bin/view/DBG400/X5250UbuntuPackages
with the details. I did that first after getting the missing
libt25250.so.0 error but it made no difference until after I ran
tn5250 first (I'd not used it on that machine before) so I wasn't sure
with change had made the difference. Glad to hear it's working for
you.
