I did a tn5250 -version, and that's where I got the 0.17.5

Ummm...

0.17.5 doesn't exist -- it's a future release! If your code is
reporting 0.17.5, then you have our developer's source code, and at the
moment, the code in the developer's source is IDENTICAL to 0.17.4.

Perhaps you meant to say 0.16.5?? If that's the case, I can see why
you're having these problems.
