Yep, there were significant changes in 1.5, enough so that pre 1.5 JVM's
won't run programs compiled from 1.5 on.

If you must run Java on the AS/400, look for an older compatible version
of JTOpen, which includes the JDBC driver. As James mentioned, you'll also
need to check the JDBC version provided by that version of JTOpen; later
capabilities won't be supported.

I think we went through this before, but IMO the better option, if possible, is to run Java and web/JEE servers on a separate PC or server using JTOpen for access/cooperation with the AS/400. Then you're free from constraints and can use the latest versions of everything.

Yeah, Java 1.3 is really really old. I don't even know the date it was
EOLed. I know Java 1.4 was back in 2008, so it was probably at least 2
years before that.

Also JDBC 4 only works with Java 6 and higher. I don't think you can get
that in 5.1 though.

Hi,

I am receiving the following Java error message on the AS400 when I try to
connect using SK's JDBCR4 JDBC_ConnProp

java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/sourceforge/jtds/jdbc/Driver

I am currently running JDK 1.3.0 on V5R1M0. Am I just hopelessly out of
date?

Thanks,
