Oh, after re-reading that I see what you mean. Thank you for clarifying
that. I will definitely look at it from this perspective then. I really
wanted to stick with the actual Java standard.

I don't think I made myself clear enough. You do not want Hibernate as
such, you want the JPA implementation based on Hibernate (plus some good
documentation for tweaking it if needed) :)

But again, choice is good but takes time :-S
