Inserting Data into Database with Japanesecharacters

Hi
I am trying to insert data in a table with CCSID 5026 (Japanese) using JDBC and SQL, i get the data in XML file which is defined in UTF-8,
so when i open the XML file in Browser i can see proper Japanese characters but when i insert this data in table, i get garbage.
Is there some thing i need to set in JDBC connection parameter or convert string before inserting.
I am using prepared statement to insert data.
