Thanks to all for the suggestions - great information much of which I did not know. I still have no resolution but have had to turn to other things temporarily - however I did take the time to check out that I had indeed done a CD into the directory and that the class file was indeed in that directory. If I create a new .java file and try to invoke it before compiling - the error I get is identical to the one I get after it has been compiled! I verified that the class is indeed in the same directory. There is something odd about the system because I have duplicated what IO have done on another box with exactly the same source and sequence of commands and it works just fine. Thanks again for your help so far - will holler if I find anything. Jon Paris Partner400 www.Partner400.com www.RPGWorld.com
