SystemDefault.properties and Version questions

Sorry for the Newbie posts, but I'm working on my first non-servlet Java
project for the 400 and I have a couple of questions:

1) On one of my machines I have 3 versions, 1.1.8, 1.2, and 1.3.  I
found a post that refered to a "SystemDefault.properties" file, but I
can't find it anywhere.  Shouldn't it be in /QIBM/ProdData/Java400/ ?

2) How do I upgrade my Java SDK and version, do I have to get a PTF to
do this?

3) What is the best resource for finding answers to this kind of
question myself?
