While working on a project, I had a need to use a Java class in a trigger. Overall, the Java trigger worked as expected but I am not happy with the deployment. What I found was that I had to un-jar any classes and expand them out in the /QIBM/UserData/OS400/SQLLib/Function directory. Anyone know of a simple way around this? One workaround was to wrap the Java code in a CL/RPGIV trigger that set up the environment (and set the CCSID at the file level and presented records as a structure), which didn't seem too bad, but it is not as simple as I had hoped for.
