Joel,

- the machine with the database you want to access needs an entry with a name
and under IP adress you will see *LOCAL
- with the toolbox driver AS400JDBCDriver.class you use the IP adress or a
name wich can be resolved to an IP adress by Domain Name Services or an entry
to the Hosts table of the client; this driver works from all systems to
access a DB2/400 database.
- with the native driver (subprotocol db2) you can connect from an as400 to
any other system with db2 connect, you need an entry with *local for the
local machine and an entry with communication resolution for a remote system.
You use the name from the RDBDIR for the connect, not the ip adress.

If this doesn't solve your problem, it would be best to provide some code and
the exact error messages you get and then we can fix it together.
